FREEMAN, Gladys (nee Schleef), 94, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, October 9, 2016 in Peoria, IL. Beloved wife of the late John F. Freeman, Sr.; loving mother of Sandra Freeman Geller, John F. (Connie Hall) Freeman, Jr., and Michele (Randall) Smith; dear grandmother of John (Victoria), Christopher, and Todd (Sara) Ivicek, Michael Combs, and Trina Janssen; great grandmother of Brandon, Alyssa, Jayden, Sierra, Isabella, and Samantha; dear sister of the late Pearl Warren and Walter Schleef; dear mother-in-law of the late Alfred Geller; our dear cousin, aunt, and friend to many.

Gladys was a stay at home Mom and a best friend to her children, Sandi, John and Michele. She was always there to support them through good times and bad. Her close friends were Wilma, her sister-in-law, LaVerne, a childhood friend, and her niece, Joan. They were dear to her. She enjoyed playing cards and going out to dinner with Wilma. They had such good times together and were dear friends for over 65 years. Another dear friend for over 65 years was La Verne. They were both dancers and performed for many different functions in the St. Louis area. Tap, jazz, modern, they could do it all. Gladys also won many ribbons in the Senior Olympics and excelled at Ballroom Dancing where she and her partner won many competitions including one at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. Her niece and neighbor, Joan, gave her great comfort and care. Gladys loved babies and took care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever she was needed. She will be missed by many who will keep her in their hearts.
